Four impersonators posing as CBI officers were arrested on Tuesday by Ghaziabad Police for cheating innocents. An official of Ghaziabad Police said he was told by locals that four men claiming to be CBI officers were advising residents in the area to be wary of crooks and advising senior citizens not to go for a walk in deserted areas.
On the other hand, police official also received complaints that some people were cheated by those who claimed to be CBI officers. Subsequently, police deployed decoys and succeeded in nabbing the impostors.
The arrested persons were in the age group of 20 and 28 years. They were identified as Faiyaz Ali, Mohsin, Mohd Ali and Imran. Two of them are fluent in English. The official said: “Police have recovered some jewellery and cash from their possession, which they had extricated from the locals.”
