Four people, including three children, were charred to death in a fire that broke out around Thursday midnight in a hutment in Ghaziabad, police said.
Police said the incident took place on Kuti Road in Bhopura under Sahibabad police station. Four people — a grandfather and his three grandchildren — died in the blaze in the hutment.Those killed were identified as Sant Dass (70), Manisha (14), Nakul (8) and Bhim (7). They all originally belonged to Bihar. Mother Rajo Devi (36) managed to escape the blaze with her three-year-old son.
“It took about an hour to control the fire and a dozen fire tenders were pressed into service. Prima facie, it seems an accidental fire,” said Ghaziabad Superintendent of Police Shiv Hari Meena.
