In yet another incident of road rage, a 39-year-old man Tarun Gupta, was allegedly crushed to death by two unidentified shoppers who ran their car over him after he got into a heated argument with them over double parking in Outer Delhi’s Begumpur area on Wednesday evening.
The victim Tarun was living with his family in Karala Village in Rohini Sector 22.
According to a senior police officer, the incident took place on Wednesday at around 5 pm in Jain Nagar area of Begumpur when Tarun had gone with his brother Manish to the latter’s eatery in the area.
“They had parked the car outside the eatery. Within a few minutes, two men came in a car and parked the vehicle in front of the eatery. One of the persons got out of the car and went across to the other eatery to get food packed,” said the officer.
“Miffed that the two persons had parked their car in front of Manish’s shop, Tarun and Manish got into a heated argument with the duo over parking,” said the officer.
The two shoppers got back inside their car and tried to leave the area, but in their hurry to get away they hit a scooty.
In order to stop the two shoppers from fleeing, Tarun tried to stop the car but the driver ran over Tarun and the duo fled the spot.
Residents and shopkeepers of the area who had witnessed the whole incident called the police.
Meanwhile, Manish, rushed Tarun to the Jaipur Golden Hospital where Tarun was declared brought dead.
Police said that they have registered a case under Sections 279 and 304A of the Indian Penal Code at the Begumpur police station against the two unknown persons. Police said that they are questioning the victim’s brother and the locals to establish the exact sequence of events as well as ascertain the identity of the accused.
Police said a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder under Sections 304/34 of the Indian Penal against unknown persons has been registered. The Maruti Alto car involved in the murderous assault has been found.
