A 35-year-old man was killed after he accidentally shot himself with the pistol at a pub in a mall in Northwest Delhi’s Shalimar Bagh on Wednesday night. According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Nasir.
He is one of the owners of the Onn lounge and Bar where the incident took place. A video of the incident went viral showing the middle aged man firing at himself and collapsing on the ground Confirming the incident, Aslam Khan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) said, "We received a PCR call at around 11:45pm on Wednesday about firing at DT Mall. According to one of the eyewitnesses, Nasir, the deceased, was partying along with his three friends at the Onn lounge and Bar when he took out a pistol and placed it near his forehead and accidentally fired at himself. We have scanned the CCTV camera footage which corroborates the claim of the eyewitness. A case under relevant sections of the Arms Act has been registered."
Police said that they have been able to access the CCTV recording in question. The disturbing video shows Nasir sitting with his friends inside the Shalimar Bagh based pub.
A few seconds into the video, Nasir can be seen taking out what looks like a gun and holding it near his head. A plume of smoke rising from then shows the moment when Nasir accidentally shot himself.
The video ends with Nasir's body tumbling on to the floor as his friends spring up from their seats.
However, family members of Nasir, who lived in the Wazirpur Industrial area on Thursday cried foul play and claimed that Nasir was killed.
Police said that they have handed over the body to Nasir's family for last rites.
Further investigation is underway.
