A 34-year-old Haryana-based businessman was arrested for molesting a woman in a Five-Star Hotel in Chanakyapuri area of New Delhi district. The incident occurred at Taj Palace Hotel on late Sunday night.
Police said that the accused has been identified as Samay Kumar, a native of Rohtak, who runs a real estate business there. "He entered the Darbar Hall of Taj Palace Hotel in an inebriated state around 11 pm on Sunday to attend his friend's marriage," a senior police officer said.
The victim, along with her sister, was coming out from the Darbar Hall when the accused began staring at and later molested her.
"The victim screamed and raised an alarm. The security personnel of the Hotel rushed to her aid. later, the Hotel security staff made a call to the police control room (0) and informed them about the incident," the officer added.
"The police took the victim to a nearby hospital for the medical examination while Kumar was arrested from the spot. Based on the victim's statement, a case has been registered against him under Section 354 (assault with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code at Chanakyapuri Police Station of New Delhi district," the officer added.
