A 16-year-old girl was allegedly molested by a 34-year-old man on the pretext of getting water from her house. Police said that the incident took place in south-east Delhi’s Sangam Vihar on Wednesday evening and the man was arrested. Parts of the episode were captured on a CCTV camera.
Police said that the matter came to fore when the girl’s mother made a PCR call and informed them about their tenant having barged into their house in her absence and molested her daughter. Soon after this, a team was rushed to the spot and the accused was nabbed from the house, where he was being thrashed by the victim’s parents and their neighbours.
Police said that the girl’s mother was away for work when the accused asked the girl for water and as she went in to get a glass, he followed her in, the neighbour shut the door behind himself and allegedly molested the minor girl.
Her parents, however, returned in time and thrashed the man with the help of their neighbours, after which she handed him over to the cops. Police said that a case under sections of molestation and POCSO Act has been registered at the Sangam Vihar police station and investigations in the case have been taken up. The man used to live there as a tenant with his family members.
