A 33-year-old man, who allegedly tried raping a minor, was thrashed by locals on Monday evening at South-East Delhi’s Nizamuddin area before being handed over to police.
Police said that the accused has been identified as Razak, who is also a drug addict. “The incident took place on Monday around 4 pm when the 7-year-old victim was playing with her mother at Amir Khusro
Park in Nizamuddin,” the officer added. Investigation revealed that the accused first kidnapped the girl and then tried to rape her after taking her to an isolated place, but the victim started screaming. “A local noticed them who, along with others, caught hold of Razak and thrashed him before handing him over to police,” a police official said, adding based on the victim’s statement, a
case under Section 354 (molestation), 323 (causing hurt) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and several Sections of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was registered at Hazrat Nizamuddin Police Station of South-East Delhi.
