Citing Delhi’s Covid-19 health bulletin, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Friday that out of 3,515 corona cases in Delhi, 1,100 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals till Thursday. On Friday, 223 new cases were reported in Delhi taking the number to 3,738.
Elaborating virus testing in Delhi, Kejriwal said that testing rate in Delhi has increased and 2,300 tests per 1 million people are being conducted as against the national average of 500 tests per million people.
According to health department database, 59 people have lost their lives while 2,362 cases are active and being treated at various hospitals.
“Common perception would be that there is a sudden and steady rise in the number of Covid cases in Delhi, but we have also decided that we will increase testing in Delhi to monitor those who have been infected and treat them thereafter. This will also ensure the prevention of the spread of Corona from infected people,” Kejriwal said.
While testing in Delhi is high pace compare to other states in India, Kejriwal said that the positive aspect of due to more testing it seems like cases are rising in Delhi. “The positive aspect of this, however, is that infected people are getting recovered. A total of 1,100 people have been cured and discharged to date. More recoveries are happening day by day." “59 people have lost their lives, which means that the death ratio is much less here as compared to other states and countries. "We are taking all possible steps to stop the spread of Corona. We have created containment zones, which are now getting de-contained because of all our measures. We have also deployed machines for sanitisation," he added.
Sharing health experts’ view on plasma therapy, Kejriwal said that we had gotten the plasma therapy trial permitted by the Central Government in the LNJP hospital in Delhi. “The patient who was given the first trial and was admitted to an ICU in a critical condition has recovered and has been discharged from the hospital yesterday because of the therapy," he added.
Kejriwal said, "A few statements on behalf of the Union Government caused the people to believe that plasma therapy will be halted in Delhi. The Union Government said that only the states which have been permitted by them should conduct the plasma therapy trials. The results of the plasma therapy are not final, these results are just based on trials. Initial results are satisfactory and we hope that this technique can be treated as a sustainable solution for the future."
"We are also contacting the 1,100 people who have recovered, and almost every person is ready to donate their plasma. I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart for wanting to save the lives of other people by donating plasma," said the CM.
Meanwhile, Delhi Government has double the ration quantity and from May month 10 KG ration per head will be provided to the residents along with kits having essential items which are1 ltr of Refined Oil, 1 kg Chhole Chana, 1 kg Sugar, 1kg Salt, 200 gm Haldi Powder,200 gm Dhania Powder, 200 gm Chilli Powder and 2 Soap Bars (60-75 gms).
“This month, we will provide them two times more for free, i.e., 10 kg ration per person, as against 5 kg ration per month. Along with the ration, we will also be providing ration kits which will have all the necessary items,” Kejriwal said.
Kejriwal appealed to AAP volunteers to serve people above the party line.
"I want to say to all the AAP volunteers, Aam Aadmi Party is not a party, it is a revolution, and all the volunteers of the AAP are revolutionaries. You had joined AAP by sacrificing yourself for the service of the nation. Please ensure that nobody in your area goes hungry. And in this process, please take care of yourself by following social distancing and taking all precautions. Please help everyone in need," added the CM.
