A 32-year-old man, employed with a private hospital in Noida, allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in East Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar area, police said on Thursday.
According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Abhinav, a native of Hathras in Uttar Pradesh. He was working with administration department.
A senior police officer said the incident took place on Tuesday night when Abhinav shot himself. He was staying at a PG accommodation provided by the hospital. After hearing the gunshot, people in the adjoining rooms rushed to his room but it was locked from inside. A PCR call was made and a police team reached the spot.
“Police broke open the gate and found Abhinav in pool of blood. He had shot himself on temple. He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead. No suicide note was found from the spot,” said a senior police officer. However, it was found that he had differences with his wife whom he had been married for two years, which might have prompted him to take the extreme step, added the officer.
“The body was handed over to family members after post-mortem. He had shot himself with a country made weapon. We have initiated inquest proceedings in the case and family members do not suspect any foul play,” said the officer.
