The police, on Wednesday, arrested three persons, including a juvenile, who allegedly killed a 71-year-old Canada-based NRI in a bid to retrieve pornographic CD of a woman known to them in West Delhi’s Khayala.
It was revealed that one of the accused was having an affair with a woman who is NRI’s granddaughter and the deceased was blackmailing her after making her obscene videos.
Police have recovered over 30 porn CDs from the victim’s residence and investigators are suspecting that the deceased had made obscene videos of other women also.
DCP (West) Ranveer Singh said that the accused have been identified as Daljeet Singh alias Gauri (48) and Praveen Yadav (23). “They were arrested for killing NRI Harinder Jit Singh on November 15 in Shivaji Enclave area in Khyala,” he added.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased, whose family is based in Ontario, had a video camera installed in his apartment and made pornographic videos of women who visited him. “The grand-daughter, who was also in a relationship with Gauri, told him that the NRI has made an objectionable video of her which she wanted to be retrieved and destroyed it as he was blackmailing her,” the officer added.
Gauri sought help from Praveen and juvenile promising them Rs 10,000 each. The trio on November 15 went to Singh’s house and overpowered him. They then tied him up with ‘chunni’ in the bathroom, gagged him with a piece of cloth and ransacked the house. They then fled the spot with the valuables such as camera, mobile phone, binocular handycam, wallet, diaries. Gauri also removed Singh’s kada from the hand.
“On the same day, he also paid Rs 10,000 each to both and shared the stolen articles. The incident came to light when around 8 pm, police received a PCR call about a body lying in Shivaji Enclave area. Upon investigation, they recovered several pornographic CDs at Singh’s residence. The police team has seized a camera, binoculars, mobile phone, wallet and around 30 credit cards from the trio,” Singh said.
During interrogation, they told police that another motive was to loot the deceased, who had recently sold a flat. Postmortem report is awaited and further investigations are on.
