The Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested three absconding accused for allegedly stabbing a tempo driver to death after the victim’s vehicle brushed past a pet dog in Dwarka’s Mohan Garden area last week. Earlier on Sunday, a 19-year-old Karan Arora was arrested in connection with the case and this week, three more people were nabbed.
According to a senior police official, the three other accused persons were identified as Ankit (24) and his brother Paras (20) and their tenant Dev Chopra (28) were nabbed by police on Wednesday evening.
The incident took place in Mohan Garden near Uttam Nagar late on Friday night when two brothers —Vijender Rana and Rajesh Rana — in their vehicle hit a pet dog that was strolling in the lane with his owner, Ankit. The dog had suffered minor injuries and it enraged the owner.
An argument ensued between Ankit and Vijender. Ankit called his brother Paras who arrived at the spot with his tenant Dev and Karan a friend. The brothers sustained six or more stab wounds each. They were attacked in the presence of their family members. The two were rushed to a nearby hospital, where Vijender was declared brought dead. Rajesh was shifted to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital for further treatment and is now said to be in stable condition.
“The three accused persons were absconding since then. Raids were conducted at various places of their hideouts. Arora is currently on two-day police remand,” said the senior police official.
