Three men were booked on Thursday in connection with the Sawan Park building collapse incident.
Besides, the Delhi Police have launched a hunt to locate three accused. Sources said it has deployed police personnel in plain clothes outside the residence of the accused and police teams are looking for these accused at various other possible hideouts in the national Capital.
The accused, who owned the dilapidated building, are identified as Dharmender, his business partner Sachin and the Sachin's father Roshan Lal. "We have questioned family members of the accused regarding their whereabouts but they have no clue about the trio's hideout," said a senior police official.
“We are also trying to identify their relatives, whom they could have contacted," the officer said.
Sanjeev Gupta, the owner of a shop on the ground floor of the building that collapsed, had filed a complaint online with the civic agency about the poor condition of the building in August last year.
Gupta had alleged it was only after a year and 13 days that the civic agency officials inspected the building and said it was in a bad condition, the officer said. "We are probing whether their negligence was in any way responsible for the incident," he added.
Criminal neglect and apathy of civic agencies had resulted in the tragic death of seven people including four children when four-storey building collapsed in a heap on Wednesday morning.
The building was situated in Ashok Vihar Phase 3 and belonged to a private contractor, who in his greed to get rent, had virtually coerced unsuspecting families to live in that death trap.
The incident, which took place near Sawan Park, has also left at least seven others injured.
The deceased were identified as Seema (24), her children Ashi (three) and Shaurya (two), her brother-in-law Laxman (25), brothers Rajnesh (four) and Sumnesh (10) and Munni Devi (40).
"Five persons —Nisha, Munni's husband Raj Bahadur and their guests Kamla Shankar and Vijay, Seema's sister Manju— are hospitalised and their condition is stated to be stable," said a senior police official.
Police have registered a case under IPC Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), punishable with a maximum jail term of 10 years, against the trio, who had rented out the building in Ashok Vihar.
