A 27-year old HIV +ve man was brutally murdered by his friend in Connaught Place on Monday. Police said the accused identified as Mohammed Ali (22) was arrested from Jhandewalan Mandir in central Delhi. Ali murdered Santosh by smashing his head continuously with a stone.

According to a senior police official, the deceased has been identified as Santosh, who was an HIV +ve patient and used to take drugs with Ali. The incident took place in H- Block in CP.

“Both of the vagabonds stayed at a footpath and used to take money from each other to score drugs. Santosh recently was taking money from Ali but was not returning the favour. On Monday night, the duo entered into a verbal argument when Ali asked money for drugs but Santosh denied the same. Ali took a heavy piece of stone and started raining blows on Santosh’s head,” said the police official.

Santosh fell down on the ground bleeding profusely and writhing in pain. Meanwhile, Ali absconded from the area. A local saw the incident and made a call to the police.

“A PCR van reached the spot and Santosh was taken to RMl hospital. He was initially unfit for statement but later spoke a little about the incident. During treatment it was also found that the victim was an HIV +ve patient. Santosh succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday and a case under section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code was registered at the Connaught place police station,” said the police official.

After getting leads from other people who knew the duo, police arrested the accused on Tuesday and he was sent to Judicial Custody by a Delhi  court.
