Sanitation workers who were at the forefront of the fight against Covid-19 and ensuring cleanliness were honoured by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) in a function held on Thursday.
Radha Krishan, Deputy Commissioner of Najafgarh Zone honoured 25 of its Safai Sainiks with best employee of the month award for July 2020.
“Sanitation workers are the backbone of Municipal Corporation and their extraordinary contribution in maintaining sanitation cannot be ruled out. We organized a small programme at zonal level to facilitate them with belief that they keep discharging their duties with all their dedication,” he said.
Chairman of Najafgarh Zone Suman Dagar who was also present praised the Safai Saniks for performing their duties diligently during these days when the entire country was reeling severely due to COVID-19. She said that just because of dedication and efforts of such staff, sanitation was ensured in the area.
“It is their consistent work which helped in maintaining cleanliness of the wards coming under the Zone. These kinds of staff have been contributing in the “Gandagi Mukt Bharat” campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” she added.
