On the very first day of admissions against the second cut-off at Delhi University (DU), about 2,388 admissions in various colleges have been cancelled while more than 5,241 admissions have been approved in various undergraduate courses on Monday.

With this, the total number of admission has crossed 15,000 by the end of first day of admissions against the second cut-off. DU offers 56,000 seats in its various undergraduate courses and out of which about 27 per cent of seats have already been filled.

A minor dip of 0.25 to 0.75 per cent on average is observed in the second cut-off with respect to the first cut-off which was announced on June 19. Admissions against second cut-off would be made till June 27 after which the third cut-off will come up on June 30. DU this year has planned to come up with only five “realistic” cut-offs with fifth and the last cut-off slated for 12 July.

At Sri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), there are about 112 admissions in BCom (Hons) and 30 in BA (Hons) Economics. At SRCC, all the seats have been filled in B.Com (Hons) and about dozen are left in BA (Hons) Economics.

With DU released its second cut-off for the merit based UG courses on Sunday evening students meeting the cut-offs criterion thronged to colleges on Monday morning for taking admissions. Also, many students who had already secured their seat as per the first cut-off prefer cancelling their admission after meeting the cut-off criteria of their favourite course and college in the second and subsequent cut-offs.

In order to secure admission in the course and college of their choice (for which they meet the criterion) they are required to cancel the previous admission and again retake the admission in course and college of their choice.
