Maken slams Govt over vendors

Welcoming the Delhi High Court Order in the matter of Street Vendors, Delhi Congress president and former Union Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Minister Ajay Maken, lambasted the Arvind Kejriwal Government for failing to implement the Street Vendors Act in Delhi. The Division Bench of the Delhi High Court has extended its previous order protecting the Street Vendors from atrocities of Police and Municipal Authorities. Relying on the observations made by the Delhi High Court order, Maken said it is not just the poor vendors but, now also the High Court has made it clear that the Kejriwal Government has failed to take the necessary steps for the betterment of vendors/hawkers in Delhi. Referring to directions 'no. 4' given by the Delhi High Court, the Congress leader demanded that Chief Minister shall explain to the poor vendors as to why his Government has failed to implement such a progressive law. Maken wondered if it was on account of paucity of time, since Kejriwal has been keeping busy in doing politics in Punjab, Goa etc.
