First time summer camps in Govt schools

In its pursuit to ensure all-round development of schoolchildren in the national Capital, for the first time the Delhi Government has introduced summer camps for Class VI students in its Government schools. At least 44,000 Class VI students from more than 551 Government schools in Delhi have started their vacations on the high note at these summer camps. The duration of summer camp will be three weeks from May 11 to May 31. Parents are also invited on Saturdays. The summer camps have been organised to welcome children from different backgrounds to Class VI from Class V, as studies have shown that this transition is particularly difficult. The camps have been designed around three core themes — food, water and waste. The children attending these camps will be taught about these themes through fun-based activities and integrated learning techniques. It is also envisioned to bridge the learning gap of children with group and peer to peer learning in this summer camp.
