Health camp for construction workers held
A health camp for the construction workers was organised by Heal India, a health initiative of the Non Profit Trust ‘One Kismet India’ on Sunday. The camp was for workers working at Stellar Jeevan site, Sector 1, Greater Noida West and was well attended by around 300 people. “Hundreds of workers were examined and medicines were dispensed free of cost to all of them. Blood sugar test and ECG were conducted at a nominal cost on those who required the tests,” said a member of the organisation. “We are committed to the health of the floating population of Greater Noida and we conduct at least one such camp every month at various construction sites,” he added.
‘lack of manpower Plaguing healthcare sector’
At a global conference organised in the national Capital, renowned doctors from the healthcare industry talked on key issues plaguing India’s healthcare sector. “lack of manpower and policy along with regulatory issues are important problems. Besides, there is a need for greater integration of modern and traditional systems of medicine, better use of technology and the need to upgrade skill-sets to ensure a better healthcare system for the 21st century,” said Dr Naresh Trehan, CMD, Global Health (Medicity). “We have over 8,00,000 ASHAs (Accredited Social Healthcare Activists) in India, but they are ill trained and don’t have any medical skills. Their costs are a huge burden on the exchequer and nothing gets accomplished in return,” he added.
