Kartik Purnima Mahotsav celebrated
The auspicious Kartik Purnima Mahotsav was celebrated with much fervour in South Delhi’s Hauz Khas by Neelachal Seva Sangha. The festival witnessed a record 15,000 devotees who thronged the site to worship lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra. “The Mahotsav was organised on a grand scale, which attracted thousands of worshippers to it. People started coming in as early as five in the morning to pray to the three Gods. We have ensured that none return without taking the prasad,” said NSS president, Bijay Das. All active members, including secretary Rabindra Pradhan and treasurer Rabi Samal, contributed to the success of the event, he added.
IT staffer, cousin arrested for extortion bid
A computer operator working at a factory in Udyog Vihar has been arrested along with his cousin for their alleged involvement in sending e-mails and making extortion calls to his employer, seeking Rs 10 lakh. Police said the incident took place in Udyog Vihar Industrial area Phase-V when the owner of a factory, a resident of DlF Phase-II, informed Gurgaon Police Cyber Crime Branch complaining he had been receiving extortion calls. The accused identified as Anil and Nikhil allegedly sent e-mails to the businessman threatening to make public his alleged MMS with a woman.
