Noida is getting ready to add more teeth to its police force by implementing an integrated CCTV surveillance system, which will help in checking crime and traffic-related incidents across the city, especially in border regions.
The Core Committee — comprising officials of the Noida Authority, the Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration and the city police — has planned to install 200 cameras
at different locations which will cost approximately Rs 83 crore.
According to Noida Authority officials, the committee decided to invite an Expression of Interest (EOI) from reputed companies earlier this year viewed the draft for the project.
While the consultation for the project is being provided by Ernst & Young, the committee will fund and monitor the project. About 50 per cent of the cost will be towards operations and maintenance of the project.
“Tender for the project should be finalised in the first week of January,” said Sandeep Chandra, in-charge of Noida Traffic Cell.
The Noida Traffic Cell is working out the modalities to implement the system on a pilot basis over a 20 sq. km area. Once implemented, Noida will be the first township in Uttar Pradesh to have the high tech surveillance system.
Starting from Noida entry gate, CCTV cameras will be installed up to the Mahamaya Flyover. At the flyover, the surveillance system will be located on the left towards the City Centre Metro Station and then onwards towards the Jhundpura border.
“The security zone will have three-tier surveillance. First tier will include all entry and exit points of Noida. The second tier will include all entry and exit points in the 20 sq. km area, while the third tier will include all critical installations like the District Magistrate Office, SSP Office, district hospital
and private players like malls,
which already have CCTV cameras
installed in their campus,”
added Chandra.
