Instead of patients, an ambulance was used here for transporting liquor illegally. The police last night seized 40 cartons of liquor which were being smuggled into Uttar Pradesh from Haryana in the ambulance near Kheda village underpass.
Circle Officer Dilip Singh said the Rabupura police has arrested two persons who were in the ambulance and impounded the vehicle.
During interrogation, the accused, identified as Manoj and Murli, revealed that they were using the ambulance to smuggle liquor for the last few months. Investigations are underway to determine whether the duo was involved in other criminal activities and used ambulance to get away, said the police officer.
It may be recalled that few weeks back Ghaziabad Police had arrested two members of a gang of burglars who used to escape in an ambulance after committing thefts. Now with Greater Noida police intercepting an ambulance carrying liquor, the police now plans to carry out surprise checks on ambulances to stop its misuse, said a police officer.
