The Haryana Government will develop two dedicated cells for Non Resident Indians (NRIs). Of these, one cell will clear their complaints and the second cell will increase investments in the State. These cells will be under observation of senior police officials of Haryana.

This was announced by Chief Minister of Haryana Manohar lal Khattar on Wednesday at the conclusion of the first-ever two-day's Pravasi Haryana Divas which was kicked off on Tuesday at the Kingdom of Dreams in Gurugram.

"After the implementation of the dedicated cell for the NRIs, their complaints will be addressed as soon as possible and also the investigations will be completed smoothly. The NRIs can file their complaint though this phone number 8968420002 they can also mail their complaints to (nricellharyana.in) besides that they can contact via fax or voice call also," the Chief Minister said.

"Police units will also be deployed for that and the contacts numbers of these units will be available on the Haryana police website.

"Around 91 per cent of the complaints which were filed at the CM window have been cleared. We have opened these cells so that NRIs do not face any problem in Haryana," the Chief Minister added.

"NRIs can contact the cell over issues related to business, investments or any other information. We have opened around 21 women police stations in several districts so that women can live freely in Haryana."

"Gurugram is the hub of the readymade garments and the state government should give some concession on tax so that the state can grow in the garments sector," Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani said. Amid celebrations, there were some problems for the NRIs too as two NRIs who come to take part in the event from the United States didn't  get accommodation in Delhi's Haryana Bhavan at Copernicus Marg in New Delhi.

They did not get rooms despite Haryana cabinet minister OP Dhankhad stating that they can stay there. Besides that, the airport authority had confiscated `1 lakh from them since the amount was in old currency of `500 and `1,000 notes. According to NRIs Narendra Joshi who runs a furniture and departmental stores along with a property business in Washington DC and  Jasvir Saini who has a Restaurant chain in Boston, they had come here on the request of the Haryana government and belong to Kurukshetra district.

"We arrived in India on the night of January 9. We had spent around three hours to reach Haryana Bawan from the airport because the airport authority had taken our old currency notes and we were told that as per Indian government rules they can take their money from the court only," he rued.

Meanwhile, The Chief Minister apologised to the NRIs for the inconvenience caused them.

Boxer Vijender Singh Phogat sisters were also present in the ceremony.
