Two-bike borne assailants allegedly shot dead a 35-year-old man near his house in South west Delhi’s Dabri on Saturday night. The accused after firing at the victim further attacked him with a sword after which they fled from the spot.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Raju.

The incident took place around 11.00 pm when Raju,  who operated satta business in the area, returned home. Two-bike borne men came and opened fire at him, after which they fled from the spot.

One of the locals made a call to the Police Control Room (PCR) after which a team of local police rushed Raju to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.

According to Surender Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest), “A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code at the Dabri police station. Teams have been formed to nab the accused at the earliest.”

A senior police officer said both the victim and the accused have a criminal background.

“Since several cases were registered against the victim as well as the accused on charges of betting, one of the primary reasons behind the cold blooded murder is that the accused wanted to establish their supremacy in the gambling business in the area.”
