Cocking a snook at law enforcing agencies, two bike borne killers barged into the house of a 45-year-old woman in Hamrahi village of Dwarka district and gunned her down.
The woman was shot multiple times by the killers who entered her house unchallenged at around 10 am on Monday.
Initial investigation by police has revealed that it appears to be a revenge killing as the woman who was a widow was in a live-in relationship with a criminal lodged in Tihar jail.
Meanwhile, in another incident involving a woman being shot at, a 28-year-old woman was shot at by her husband following an argument in Mahipalpur area of Southwest Delhi.
In the first incident, two unidentified men on a bike forcibly entered into the residence of the 45-year-old woman identified as Kamlesh and opened fire at her. She was shot seven to eight times by the duo. Her maid was reportedly present at the time of the incident, police said.
The woman was rushed to a hospital nearby, where she was declared brought dead. Police said that she was a widow and was in a live-in relationship with one Monu alias Rajiv who was apparently lodged in Tihar jail in a case of murder.
In May, Monu allegedly killed Sandeep Mental, a member of a rival gang. Police suspect Sandeep Mental’s gang members may have killed Kamlesh to avenge his murder. Police said that they have identified the two accused after scanning footage of CCTV cameras in the area. Police teams are scouring their possible hideouts to bring them to justice.
"Raids being conducted at several places in Delhi and Haryana to nab the two men and others involved in the incident" the police official said.
In the second incident, a 28-year-old woman was shot at by her estranged husband after they got into an argument in Mahipalpur. She sustained a bullet injury and is currently out of danger, police said.
"She is separated from her husband and was living with her parents in Mahipalpuri," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Devender Arya.
The incident occurred at around 8.30 am, the woman identified as Kavita Kumari, was returning home after dropping her two sons at school, police said. Kavita's husband identified as Harkesh Kumar is a property dealer, in Gurugram. He allegedly stopped Kavita near her parent's house and they got into an argument.
The accused turned aggressive during the argument and took out a pistol and fired at Kavita. The accused fled the scene, police said.
Initial probe revealed that Kavita and Harkesh were married for eight years. Harkesh's property business was nottaking off and he allegedly started getting addicted to drugs.
This created issues and the couple fought frequently. Kavita had also filed a police case against her husband alleging domestic violence, with the Gurugram police, police said.
"A case of attempt to murder has been lodged against the accused husband Harkesh," Arya said.
