Municipal corporations on Tuesday sealed 19 properties and shops for misusing spaces. South Delhi Municipal Corporation sealed five properties in Defence Colony while North Delhi Municipal Corporation sealed 10 properties in Civil lines and Rohini Zone.
East Delhi Municipal Corporation has also sealed four properties in Raghubarpura and Krishna Nagar. A senior SDMC official said that the officials of building department took the action on the direction of the 'Supreme Court Empowered Monitoring Committee'.
Traders in the national capital hit hard after building department of the municipal corporations had started sealing business establishments for non-payment of conversion charges, encroachment, and illegal construction on the instructions of the Supreme Court-appointed monitoring committee. In the drive, thousands of shops have been sealed since last December and there is still no sigh of relief amid all the coordinated efforts put up by all the regarding stakeholders.
Forced with the circumstances that seem to be incessant, traders associations have held numerous protest rallies against the drive.
