Hundreds of people staged a protest after the charred body of a 17-year-old girl was found at her employer's bathroom in Outer Delhi's Mongolpuri area on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Shivani. The police set up a medical board for autopsy to ascertain the cause of death. No case has been registered so far.

The incident took place around 2pm when the employer identified as Atul, who is a scientist by profession, called up Shivani's father and told him that his daughter had locked herself in the bathroom. The police officials were informed as well but by the time they reached Atul's house flames were seen coming out of the bathroom. She was rushed to hospital where she was declared brought dead.

Angry over this, the girl's family members vandalized the house. They broke the window panes and around five persons were injured in this. Extra force was called in to control the situation. The police fired teargas shells and also used mild force to disperse the crowd. The girl's family alleged that her employers had set her on fire and murdered her. They alleged that they saw blood in the house as well. Police officials are verifying the claims.

A medical board has been constituted to ascertain the cause of death. Police sources claimed that the girl committed suicide as the door of the bathroom was locked from inside and they had to break open the door. No case has been registered so far.
