More than 1,500 applicants are competing for 522 lifetime memberships at the Dwarka Golf Course, and the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) will decide the successful candidates through a draw of lots on Friday. The draw will take place at 11 am on October 16 at the Auction Hall in D-Block, DDA Vikas Sadan, INA.

The authority will conduct separate draws for Government and non-Government applicants and make the proceedings available through a live YouTube webcast.

According to the DDA, 1,505 eligible applicants have been identified for the memberships. Of these, 392 are competing for 53 places under the Government category, while 1,113 applicants are in the running for 469 places under the non-Government category.

The numbers mean there are more than seven applicants for every available government-category membership, compared with around 2.4 applicants for each non-Government slot.

The membership scheme was introduced on the directions of Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu.

The DDA said it had received an enthusiastic response from applicants. Those unable to attend the draw in person can follow it online.

The live broadcast will be available on YouTube, allowing applicants to watch the selection process remotely.

The cost of membership varies by category and duration. A lifetime membership costs Rs 3.5 lakh for Government applicants and Rs 7.5 lakh for non-Government applicants, excluding 18 per cent GST.

Applicants seeking shorter tenures can opt for a three-year membership, priced at Rs 1.2 lakh for the Government category and Rs 2.5 lakh for the non-Government category. Five-year memberships cost Rs 1.8 lakh and Rs 4.5 lakh, respectively, with GST charged separately.

The membership draw will determine access to the facility, which was inaugurated in 2024. Spread across 158 acres in Sector 24, Dwarka, the 18-hole championship course has a 7,377-yard layout and expansive greens.

The complex also has a 375-yard driving range with 52 bays, catering to golfers seeking practice facilities alongside access to the main course.

Its other amenities include a clubhouse, restaurant, cafeteria, snack kiosks, conference and multipurpose halls, a technology studio, a lecture hall, pro-shops and an equipment fitment studio.

A swimming pool and wellness centre are also part of the facility.

The DDA is developing a Golf Academy at the course as a Centre of Excellence, with the stated aim of nurturing young and aspiring golfers.
