Investigations into the brutal rape of a 15-month-old baby have revealed that the accused raped the hapless child to avenge his humiliation by her father. Jagdish, the accused, had entered into an argument with the victim’s father that culminated into a minor scuffle 10 days ago. The fight had started over a drinking session.
Jagdish raped the baby on Friday evening, when she was alone at her home as her parents had gone out for work. Jagdish brutalised her and tried to kill her. The accused, however, fled the spot.
The accused initially tried to mislead the investigators but after the interrogation, he broke down and told the police that he and the victim's father often sat for drink in the evening. “Around 10 days ago, the victim’s father slapped him over some issue and thereafter he decided to take revenge,” a senior police officer said.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the servant quarter has two doors and on Friday evening, victim’s mother locked only front door before leaving the house. Taking advantage of this, the accused entered the house. “He first raped the victim and then tried to kill her by stuffing a blanket into her mouth. But suddenly, he heard some noise outside the home and he immediately escaped from the spot,” the officer added.
The incident came to light when the victim’s mother returned from work and found the victim bleeding from her intimate areas. The victim was taken to Safdarjung Hospital where a medical examination confirmed rape. Doctors said her wounds will take around two weeks to heal. later, 24-year-old Jagdish, who hails from Bareilly and had been employed at the officer’s house for three years, was arrested.
During interrogation, the accused Jagdish also revealed that his servant verification had not been conducted. Police is now going to prosecute the Air Force Officer, Vivek Yadav for not conducting servant verification. “He always tried to please his employer and do better than the victim’s mother so that he would be seen as a better domestic help than her,” police officer said, adding that the victim is recuperating in Safdarjung Hospital and her condition is stable.
