14 illegal foreigners deported in crackdown

In a continuing crackdown against illegal residents, the Dwarka district police have deported 14 foreign nationals. These people are found staying in India without valid visas. Those deported include eleven citizens of Nigeria, two from the Ivory Coast, and one from Bangladesh.

The month-long operation, carried out in September 2025, was part of a district-wide campaign to identify and remove foreigners illegally residing in the southwestern parts of the Capital.

“These individuals were living without legal documents and taking undue advantage of local resources. Dwarka Police remain committed to maintaining law and order and ensuring compliance with immigration laws,” said DCP (Dwarka District) Ankit Singh.

The coordinated operation involved several police units: the Anti-Narcotics Cell, Police Stations Mohan Garden, Dwarka Sector-23, Dabri, and the Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS).

Acting on intelligence inputs, these teams identified locations where overstaying or undocumented foreign nationals were believed to be residing.

They then conducted targeted verification drives and late-night raids across the district.

Out of the total, nine illegal residents were apprehended by the Anti-Narcotics Cell, two by Mohan Garden Police Station, and one each by AATS, Dwarka Sector-23, and Dabri Police Station.

Police said most of them had entered India on short-term visas but continued to stay even after expiry. Some had entered the country illegally through porous borders.

Once detained, all were produced before the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), which confirmed their illegal status and ordered deportation. They were then sent to a detention centre pending repatriation to their home countries.

According to officials, most of the detained foreigners were living in rented houses in localities such as Mohan Garden, Uttam Nagar, and Dabri areas.

These areas have seen a noticeable increase in the number of overstaying nationals in recent years. Several of them were found without valid passports, travel papers, or supporting documents. Police said such illegal residents often take up small trades, work without permits, or get involved in illicit activities, adding to local law enforcement challenges.

A senior officer said that special drives are being conducted regularly to identify and act against foreigners staying beyond their visa period. “Foreigners staying without valid documents often get involved in criminal or economic offences. Regular checks are necessary to ensure community safety,” he added.

Dwarka Police have also strengthened coordination with immigration authorities and the FRRO to ensure early detection of visa violations.

DCP Ankit Singh said that the initiative is part of an ongoing campaign to maintain public safety and legal compliance. “The aim is not harassment but enforcement of the law. Those who follow the rules are welcome, but those violating immigration norms will face deportation,” he said.

Police have appealed to landlords and residents to verify the identity and visa status of their tenants before renting out accommodations. Officials said similar verification drives will continue through October, with a focus on areas that have reported a higher presence of foreign nationals.

With this latest action, Dwarka Police have sent out a strong message, overstaying in India without proper documents will not be tolerated, and anyone found violating immigration laws will face immediate deportation.
