At least thirteen drivers got job with the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) on fake licences, a probe has revealed. DTC has now asked the Delhi Police to register a criminal case against them.
According to a senior DTC official — after an investigation in a case pertaining to fraud license — the CBI has recently handed over a list of such drivers who were suspected to have joined the DTC using forged licences.
“As per our initial investigation, all 13 drivers were found guilty for getting jobs in DTC on fake licence. At the time of hiring, they showed that they got licences from Mathura Authority. When the DTC approached Mathura Authority, they said that these licences were not issued by them,” the official said.
The drivers were reportedly hired through Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSB), which are now being blamed for leniency. “It was the responsibility of the DSSB to check the applicants’ licences before hiring them, but it didn’t,” he said.
“DTC chairman Debashree Mukherjee has written a letter to the Delhi Police to register a criminal case against them. Besides, we are also investigating the case on our own,” the official said. When asked why the DTC has not suspended these drivers so far, he said the initial investigation found them guilty and once the probe is completed, they would be definitely sacked.
