The Delhi Police rescued a 10-year-old boy who was kidnapped from Northeast Delhi's Jyoti Nagar area on Monday. Police have arrested two kidnappers and are looking for another accused — the cousin of the child who hatched the plan to earn money.

Dr AK Singla, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) said,   "Danish (22) and Tariq (21) have been arrested. They are residents of Budaun in Uttar Pradesh. While Tariq was still working at the child's father's factory, Danish had left the job and was working at a factory in Vishwas Nagar."

A search by the teams of the Northeast district eventually led to the safe rescue of the 10-year-old child who was on his way to his tuition classes in the West Jyoti Nagar area.

A senior police officer said, "It was on Monday, that the boy, a resident of Kardampuri near West Jyoti Nagar was coming back from tuition along with his sister, when two men approached him and asked the two of them the address of their uncle. Offreing them help, the boy went with them to show the way while the child's sister returned home. An hour passed but the child did not return home."

The DCP said they came to know about the kidnapping on Tuesday after the boy's father got ransom calls from the kidnappers asking for Rs 1 crore against the release of the child. Following which, a case was immediately registered at the Jyoti Nagar police station and the investigations followed.

"The child was taken to Panipat and kept there for one night. Next day he was brought to Delhi and many ransom calls were made from Panipat and Delhi. Following intensified surveillance and questioning of those known to the family and friends, police team zeroed in on two men. They were identified as Tariq, a worker at the boy's father's factory in Gokulpuri and another youth, Danish, an ex-employee.

Several police teams were working on this case. Eventually, a team led by Additional DCP RP Meena and Inspector Anti-Auto Theft Squad spotted the child and the two kidnappers in a park near Kailash Nagar," said Dr Singla.

During sustained interrogation, the duo unveiled the involvement of one Mohsin, son of the victim's relative, who had masterminded the kidnapping. Mohsin is absconding, and he is the main accused behind this kidnapping. He is the victim's father’s  real sister's son. He also happens to be the victim's father's confidant in all business dealings," added Dr Singla.
