‘Opinion created against welfare services by calling them freebies’

Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said that an atmosphere is being created against free Government welfare services by terming them freebies, rather than planning to strengthen them in the 75th year of Independence. Kejriwal also urged the Centre to provide free good education, healthcare, 300 units of electricity to every household and offer an 'unemployment allowance'

“Since the past few days, an atmosphere has been created that all the facilities given by the Central Government and State Governments to the poor, common man and middle-class people should be stopped as this is causing a huge loss to the Governments,” said Kejriwal, during an online briefing.

“Some people are calling it freebies and some are calling it ‘free ki rewari’. Different terms are being invented to project that this is causing huge losses to the exchequer. An atmosphere is being created to put an end to free education given to children in Government schools in the entire country,” Kejriwal added. “I strongly believe that on the occasion of Independence Day we should engage ourselves in extensive planning to address our shortcomings by working together on a war footing.

We should together plan to achieve the dream of establishing excellent Government schools in the entire country within the next five years so that even the poor children can get quality education,” asserted Kejriwal.

“On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Independence, I demand from all the Governments on behalf of 130 crore people of this country that there should be a system of quality education for every child in the country, no matter if he belongs to a rich or poor family.

This is not a freebie or ‘free ki rewari’ but a birthright of every child taking born in India,” said Kejriwal adding that “those who are calling it a freebie or free ki rewari are traitors.”

“Similarly, an environment is being created to end free treatment of people in Government hospitals. They either want to shut down the Government hospitals or they want to charge money for treatment.

Each facility will be provided for a cost, be it medicine or lab tests. Only those who have money will get treated and those who don’t have money will be left on their own. Governments won’t care if they live or die,” said Kejriwal.

“An atmosphere is also being created to project that supplying free water is a sin. Hindu religion teaches us that if someone has some savings, they should build a ‘pyau’ so that people can get drinking water. However, the same people who are creating a ruckus have written-off debt worth Rs 10 lakh crores of a handful of people. It is being said that some of those people are their best friends,” he said.

. That is acceptable to them and nobody is talking about it.

It was taxpayers’ money but writing-off that debt did not cause any loss in their eyes. They have imposed GST on edible items in the entire country.

They are fine with letting the common man die but they cannot provide any relief to them. However, they have written-off taxes for a handful of billionaires,” claimed Kejriwal.
