Obama pledges solidarity with Britain

President Barack Obama has strongly condemned the militant Islamic State’s “barbaric murder” of British aid worker David Haines and pledged American solidarity with the country’s strong ally in bringing the perpetrators to justice.

“Our hearts go out to the family of (David) Haines and to the people of the United Kingdom. The United States stands shoulder to shoulder tonight with our close friend and ally in grief and resolve,” Obama said in a statement issued on Saturday night, soon after the ISIS put out its video on the beheading of Haines – the third to be so executed after American journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff.

“We will work with the United Kingdom and a broad coalition of nations from the region and around the world to bring the perpetrators of this outrageous act to justice, and to degrade and destroy this threat to the people of our countries, the region and the world,” Obama said.
