British cops to use body cameras

UK’s cash-strapped police department is expected to use body-worn cameras while interrogating suspects on the crime scene as part of a new pilot scheme aimed at costs cutting. These cameras would be used for low- level crimes such as anti-social behaviour or shoplifting. It is aimed at saving on the time and cost involved currently where all suspects who are arrested must be taken for questioning to a police station. Andy Marsh, the UK’s national policing lead for body-worn video, said, “I am working closely with the Home Office and they have agreed in principle that we can run a pilot in a number of forces to see if we can effectively use the cameras to interview suspects of certain offences, other than at police stations.
