Four Pakistani policemen were arrested on Sunday for alleged negligence during last month’s daring attack by the Taliban on a high-security jail that led to the escape of nearly 250 inmates, including 35 hardcore militants.

According to police sources, investigations found that the arrested officials namely Qaisar Khan, Sufaid Khan, Ateequr Rehman and Khan  Bahadur were guilty of negligence during the jailbreak in Dera Ismail Khan in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Province, the Dawn reported.

On July 30, Pakistani Taliban insurgents had freed nearly 250 inmates, including 35 ‘high-profile militants’, during a brazen overnight attack on the central jail.

Earlier, media reports had said Superintendent of Police Elite Force, Tauheed, Deputy Superintendent Elite Force, Behram Khan and 25 other members of the force had been suspended for their incompetence during the attack.
