Three separate bomb blasts on Thursday rocked Cairo and its surrounding areas, ahead of protests to mark the first anniversary of the military’s ouster of President Mohammed Morsi.
A suspected militant died while he was handling a homemade bomb that went off inside a house in Kerdasa village in Giza governorate near Cairo, injuring one other person.
Another explosion rocked the capital city as a bomb planted under a car parked near an air force hospital went off, according to Gamal Halawa, Deputy Chief of Cairo Civil Protection Force.
Authorities have reportedly arrested a suspect in connection with the blast near the hospital. The third blast took place near a police station in Imbaba district in Giza. No one was injured in the explosions.
