Young ambassadors

Pioneer

Four young NCC cadets which included two army, one navy and one air force cadet, accompanied by col GS Dhillon as the delegation leader, visited Nepal from February 22 to March 2 as part of the Youth Exchange Programme (YEP) of the National Cadet Corps.

The visit to this friendly foreign country aimed at ‘widening of mental horizon’ of these young ambassadors from India at an impressionable age.The YEP to Nepal was spread over one week and  included interaction with cadets from Nepal and the NCC counterpart in Sri lanka who were also visiting Nepal. The cadets delegation projected the India and its culture through presentations like ‘Indredible India’ and NCC in India.

It was a proud moment for the cadets to be part of the Army Day celebrations of the Nepalese army held on Feb 27.  The cadets spent a week in Nepal and were taken to several world heritage sites in Kathmandu and lumbini.

The cadets also interacted with President of Nepal, Ram Baran Yadav, PM of Nepal, Sushil Koirala, and COAS of Nepalese army, Gen Gaurav Samsher Jung Bahadur Rana.

It was a landmark event that was an enriching experience in the lives of these cadets. The rich culture and traditions of Nepal and their charming hospitality were some of the aspects that were indelibly etched in the minds of the NCC cadets. Indeed, the ‘leaders of Tomorrow’ will find this experience very handy while tackling challenges in their lives in the times to come.
