‘Virginity should be a girl’s choice’

Model-actor Urvashi Rautela talked about the “double standards” and stigma attached to the female virginity in India that needs to be erased.

In Urvashi's new web film, Virgin Bhanupriya, she plays a girl who is desperate to lose her virginity.

She said, “India is a land of contrasts. On the one hand, we are the land of Kamasutra and have temples with erotic sculptures. On the other, female virginity is a huge taboo. We have a very conservative approach on female virginity where we take it as a parameter to judge a girl's character. In many pockets of our country, women have to go through a virginity test before marriage. It should be a girl’s choice!”

‘Whenever the world reopens, the first place I’d want to be back to is Ladakh, where I usually go once a year, rent a bike, switch the phone off, stay in a tent by the river for ten days. It's where I am happiest in the world. It's literally heaven. Washes the Mumbai off. I’ve toured the world twice, never found a place with that much soul.’

Actors Vidya Balan and Sanya Malhotra-starrer Shakuntala Devi is going to have a first-of-its-kind virtual song launch.

The launch of the film, which releases on Amazon Prime Video on July 31, has been made available to around 5,000 school students from 50 cities.

A source said, “The makers along with the lead cast wanted to do something fun and unique with their promotional activities. Given the current pandemic situation, we can’t hold an event or a gathering. But it was the cast members idea to plan a virtual song launch with students from across the nation.”

Gosling, Evans team up for film

Actors Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling have teamed up for Russo Brothers’ The Gray Man, to be produced with a budget of $200 million.

The Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo are on board to direct the film for Netflix.

The Gray Man will be based on the 2009 eponymous Mark Greaney novel and is about a freelance assassin and former CIA operative named Court Gentry (played by Gosling).

“The film is a real mano a mano between two great actors who represent two different versions of the CIA. For those who were fans of Captain America: Winter Soldier, this film is for them,” said Anthony Russo.
