‘Fantastic to represent India’

Veteran actor Anupam Kher, who is gearing up for the second season of New Amsterdam, says being a part of the medical drama broadens his horizons.

“It is also fantastic to represent my country in a show which deals with love, compassion and diversity,” Anupam wrote on social media.

Asked if he believes in luck, Anupam said he first believes in hardwork.

The actor who was born in Shimla, is a Kashmiri Pandit. A user questioned him as to who will make a movie on Kashmiri Hindus — if he can't ? He replied, “Sometimes raising a voice is more important than making a film.”

‘The market is evolving and lot of interesting stuffs are coming. The web platform is an adventurous space to be in and I see myself acting in a web show soon. I have always picked up different projects in my career irrespective of the fact whether it is a TV show or a short film. My next project will be something that I have not done in the past.’

Actress Archana Puran Singh has shot for two episodes of The Kapil Sharma Show, but has denied that she did so as a ‘permanent’ replacement for cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu, who has been ousted from the show after a controversial comment in the wake of the Pulwama terror attack.

Archana said, “No, I haven't replaced him. I have not received any official information from the channel or anyone to be a permanent part of the show. I just shot two episodes for the show before the Pulwama attack. He (Sidhu) was busy somewhere due to which the channel approached me for shooting two episodes, and I did it.”

‘Theatres need to be around forever’

Veteran filmmaker Steven Spielberg has urged other filmmakers to make movies for theatres and not just for television.

While accepting the Filmmaker Award at the Cinema Audio Society Awards, Spielberg requested filmmakers to focus on giving the audience a theatrical experience.

He said, “I hope all of us really continue to believe that the greatest contributions we can make as filmmakers is to give audiences the motion picture theatrical experience. I'm a firm believer that movie theatres need to be around forever.”

Spielberg said he was not against television, but he feels theatre has far better experience.
