In its 50 years of existence, Taparia Tools Limited (TTL), a hand tools manufacturing company, has deployed every known right method to market its products across the country. This was necessary as it initially had formidable competition, mainly from tool manufactures in the unorganised sector and other Indian companies. TTL today commands almost 70-75 per cent market share in the organised sector. Marketing a high quality hand tool is quite a task, says the CMD of the Rs 500 crore TTL in a market.
Taparia Tools Ltd, an ISO-9001 accredited company, started manufacturing hand tools in 1969 in India in technical collaboration with a reputed company by the name of AB Bahco of Sweden. The company has a well laid out fully equipped factory located at Nashik. All the manufacturing facilities required for production of hand tools are under one roof.
The company’s research and development department is manned by mechanical engineers and metallurgists equipped with latest CAD design facilities from its inception. It has laid high emphasis on the quality of its products. Taparia Tools are guaranteed against manufacturing and raw material defects and are replaced free with no questions asked.
The factory has a fully equipped Quality Assurance Department and laboratory for meticulous and continuous testing of materials up to the final finished product. All tools are built tough for prolonged use and are tested to conform to strict highest international standards.
The company has received award for export excellence since 1974-75 onwards. Over the years, TTL has developed a network of over 300 distributors. It has also expanded its retail network to over 1 lakh stores across the country. In addition, for direct marketing, the company has prepared a database of manufacturing companies that do bulk purchases of hand tools. There is also an ever-increasing demand for newer and heavier industrial hand tools such as pipe wrenches, truck wheel spanners, flat and ring and combination spanners.
Seeing the recent trend of quality conscious consumers opting for ‘do-it-yourself’ tools, the company has launched a variety of home tool kits. Taparia believes that hand tools are an extension of a human hand.
