Performances and Cast
Roshan Mathew delivers a compelling performance as Ashu, portraying a blend of vulnerability and cunning that keeps viewers engaged. Mohit Raina’s portrayal of Max complements Mathew’s performance, adding depth to the strained sibling dynamic. Sarah Jane Dias and Trinetra Haldar Gummaraju provide strong support, enriching the narrative with their nuanced roles.
Direction and Cinematography
The director Chandan Arora, being back into the direction after almost 15 years effectively captures the essence of Goa, moving beyond its stereotypical portrayal to present it as a character in its own right. The cinematography by Rajeev Ravi and Vinod Illampally enhances the moody atmosphere, aligning with the series’ dark themes.
Points for the Fall
While the Hindi-language crime thriller boasts strong performances and a rich setting, it falls short in its writing. The plot, though promising, lacks the surprises and tight pacing expected of a thriller. The more number of episodes format lead to stretches that could have been more concise, potentially impacting viewer engagement.
Closing Thoughts
Kankhajura offers a decent watch for fans of crime dramas, particularly those interested in character-driven stories set against evocative backdrops. Can only be your one time watch.
