The chemistry between cocktail and cuisine makes Royal Brewery Bistro the place to chill out. By Team Viva
Another feather in the cap of Hotel The Royal Plaza, the Royal Brewery Bistro welcomes you with its warm interiors. Done up in warm wooden hues, the place boasts plush leather sofas, antique artifacts, Edison bulb lighting along with a huge bar, that is well equipped to offer some commendable concoctions.
A major catch for this particular junction is an underground wine cellar with an aromatic ambience. You can choose to book the cellar with a group of maybe six friends, sip wine and spend some of the best times.
The best thing about a good drink is that it sets the perfect pitch for your appetite. And so it happened. We began with a beer cocktail and must say that they are brave enough to experiment with their mixes so early in the day. Our recommendation – Brewer Street! This particular cocktail looks like lager brew and certainly tastes like one. It’s an excellent blend of vodka, rum, tequila and orange juice – topped with beer. This can well be a competition to the lIIT in the coming days.
After the drink, we began with their buffalo mozzarella and tomato salad. The simplistic toss-up had a mellow hint of pesto sauce. The salad was mild on spices and overall made for a good start. The quintessential Italian dish, pizza, followed next and tasted fairly good. The house special thin crust pizza was topped with green chillies, mushrooms, black olives and sun dried tomatoes, and didn’t have the capacity to go wrong. The vegetarian tacos didn’t really meet the cut and lacked adequate filling. A few more vegetables and cheese would have made it just fine. The dish of the day would be the New Zealand lamb chops that were topped with rosemary jus and came along with mashed potatoes and tossed vegetables. The chops were succulent and juicy marinated with light spices.
An interesting innovation was placing micro greens on fresh basil, lending crunch and homely flavours. Focussing on health and combining the same with salads, this introduction shall certainly go with the health-conscious intelligentsia looking to fulfill their appetite with a salad looking as grand as a full meal.
With an added advantage of poolside, the ambience and aura presents itself with an enigmatic resonance of being a perfect ‘Bistro’.
