Angry Indian Goddesses traces the story of seven girls who are going through their personal issues but after spending a week in Goa, the circumstances they go through change their perspective of life. By Arjita Mishra

What if you were asked to go to Goa on a trip with your friends and that too for a weekIJ Sounds amazing, right!! As soon as we get the information, we start dreaming of the place, make a to-do list and of course, the main thing — hitting the malls to get those perfect beachy outfits. But what if that trip changes your life or the way you live your lifeIJ

The film, Angry Indian Goddesses, directed by Pan Nalin, traces the story of seven friends who are either busy in their own life or are trying to manage their personal life with their professional life. According to the actress Sandhya Mridul, who is essaying a character of Suranjana in the film, says, “She (Suranjana) is so busy with her work that she ignores her husband and child. Her work is very hectic and stressful that she cannot give time to her family.”

Mridul says about the film that the story of the film is very real. It is a kind of reflection of women of our society in each class. According to singer Anushka Manchanda, who is also playing an important role in the film shares that, “You have never seen anything like this before because there are a lot of films on boys and on their friendships but you've never seen a film on girls and their friendships.”

The plot deal with one of the seven girl friends getting married and she asks the other six to spend a week together in Goa. “Basically, the trip is a kind of bachelorette of one week long and what happens to the girls throughout the week is the story of the film,” says Manchanda who is portraying a musician named Madhurita. She added, “My characters name is Madhurita but she doesn’t like her name, she prefers to be called Mad who is very aggressive by nature.”

Another actress of the film Pavleen Gujral tells us about her character Pamila Jaiswal who is fondly called Pammi. She hails from Delhi who loves to party and is married to an affluent person. “She leads the typical south Delhi lifestyle and then comes to Goa to meet her friends. There she realises what her life was and what her life has become,” says the actor.

Telling more about her role, Mridul says that, “She (Suranjana) is hanging with her girls and starts to have fun that had missed out on for a long time because her life is so stressful and demanding.” On asking her about the risk with the film as there is no male lead, she says, “It is a calculated risk but I think there is extreme change in the society, not just outside but also in India. The response of the audience is very good after seeing the trailer of the film and also the responses we got at MAMI (Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image), everybody wants to see this film. There is no formula, if the film connects with the audience then it connects and I don’t think that it is a time where we say ‘arey hero nahi hai toh film nahi chalegi.’ I think everybody wants to see the film.”

Manchanda shares that she was very nervous for the film as it is her first film. “Before starting the film, I was like how would I do this because there were very good actresses in the film like Sandhya, Pavlin, et al., but we had a workshop together where we bonded and that worked for me,” said the singer-turned actress.

“There is a lot of fun and laughter and also a very good message in the film,” concluded Mridul.

The film is set to release on  December 4.
