That's the spirit

This nightclub in Gurgaon boasts of a treadmill, pool tables and a huge terrace to lounge about. Karan Bhardwaj finds out the ‘madness’ quotient

How about some exercise before having the main course on the tableIJ So there’s a treadmill placed next to you. If you started your day quite early and didn’t have time to jog, then work out a little, relax and then sit to gorge. In case you are craving for some fun, opt for a pool game with your partner. If that is not interesting enough, hit the dance floor as the DJ spins a cool mix of retro and modern tracks. The options are plenty. Madness, a new addition to the list of clubs and restaurants in Gurgaon, fascinates you at the first look. The place has a huge space, sprawling terrace, music floor and a private area arranged for parties. Though the interiors are simple, there are large portraits and funny quotes on walls. “There is something mad about everybody. We provide you the place to bring in the madness. We want people to let their hair down and relax. There are groups who go mad with the music and drinks on floor. We love that,” tells us Tania, the Sri lankan owner of the place. “The reason why we placed treadmill in a club is that we are a group of mad thinkers. So there’s no justification to it,” she quips. The basic idea of Madness is to let people set the place ablaze. “We don’t have cars hanging from the ceilings or some crazy creatures roaming around. It’s just the spirit that comes with people,” she says.

It seems little attention has gone into designing the menu. We couldn’t classify it really. It has a leaning towards pan-Asia. The only thing missing is Indian. They’ve also tweaked the menu a bit by crafting mad burgers and kebabs. “You can have random items from Europe, US, Mexico, Japan, Korea and street food from Singapore,” adds Tania. We loved mushrooms and kebabs and Sri lankan deviled chicken and veg in Thai green curry. “I didn’t want this place to be known for food. If you do Indian, then you have to do fantastic job. But if you serve diverse variety, you can add your own twist,” she says.
