On July 14, a few like-minded women and men from Delhi/NCR took the first step towards the cause ‘Respect Women’ from South Point Mall, Gurgaon. Various running groups like ‘Running in Gurgaon’, ‘lets Run Gurgaon’ and enthusiasts who believed in the cause joined hands and expressed their belief and determination, to make a better tomorrow.
The team kept running from Gurgaon via MG Road, following the Metro line passing Ghitorni, Qutab Minar, Green Park, Jor Bagh and finally reaching India Gate carrying the Indian flag throughout the distance in the relay marathon. Finally runners met at India Gate, shared their ideas and experiences about the various atrocities that women face on a day to basis across the country. The Team made some actionable plans, about how we need to educate people and work in developing the right attitude towards respecting women, right from the early days at home and in school. We strongly believe that setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible. We had set a goal to keep this effort continue, bigger and better in years to come. We would encourage everyone who believes in the cause to join hands and make this effort a success.
