Resident evils and angels

Divya Kaushik

Contestants of Bigg Boss Season 7 are ready for plotting, scheming and everything else that we know the show for. Divya Kaushik spoke to a few housemates

Ever since Salman Khan introduced the gates to heaven and hell on screen, there were speculations on who will be the resident angles and devils. Some names like Pratyusha Banerjee and Sangram Singh were making rounds, and whosoever guessed them, was right. Both of them are part of Bigg Boss Season 7 that went on air on Colors last night. We spoke to the three contestants and found out who is scared and who is not.

The big ticket

Armaan Kohli might sound to you a familiar name. He is the son of producer and director Rajkumar Kohli and has appeared in films like Dushmani and lOC: Kargil. He went missing after that. And now he tells us that nothing worth doing was coming his way so he decided to go on a different track altogether. He was in construction business and was also buying and selling houses. After being in this buying and selling business, he came up with his own production house. “We have three big projects next year and I am also doing a film. But several things have changed since the time I left the industry. It is almost mandatory today for you to be a known name. So I thought that the Bigg Boss platform is just an ideal one to be popular among the masses,” says Kohli. In other words, we can say that his motive of entering the Bigg Boss house is to earn some branding and goodwill for his films. But what if he earns a bad name in the houseIJ “Publicity, good or bad, always does wonders. With celebrities it mostly happens that if they will do a good thing that won’t get reported as easily as some case against them. But I am not looking at the bad part, I will be myself on the show and I can promise the audience that I will be a complete entertainment package,” he stresses and says that it was his dream to be a part of “one mindbanging reality show” and after this he will be totally focussed on his films and production house. “This will be the first and the last reality show of my life,” says Kohli.

Identity crisis!

Ever since she has quit Balika Vadhu, Pratyusha Banerjee is a part of most of most tentative reality show contestants’ list, specially if the show is on Colors. “I am surprised that most people guessed that I will definitely be a part of Bigg Boss season 7. It wasn’t the obvious choice to me. I was not sure when the production house for the show, Endemol, approached me with the offer. But when Colors approached me I could not say no to the channel that has made me whatever I am today,” says Pratyusha and once again clarifies that she has never had any issues with the channel. “People mostly ignore that there can be some real life situations which make it difficult for an actor to give sufficient time for a daily soap. Those days my mother was not keeping well and if I will not take care of her then who else willIJ So she was my priority then,” she adds. She played Anandi in Balika Vadhu and she says her fans won’t get shocked as she is “very much like Anandi in real life too.” She says she can’t wear “overexposing clothes.” Her only expectation from the Bigg Boss is that “it will help people know me by my name and not as Anandi. Also I want to learn to keep my temper in control and I think that will come from the show.”

Rustic and tough

More than being a wrestler, he is known as Payal Rohatgi’s boyfriend who participated with her in the reality show Survivor India. He says that initially he was skeptical of being a part of the show but wanted to take it as an opportunity to have a different experience. “Payal told me many things about the Bigg Boss house but I haven’t made any perceptions based on her comments. Females jaldi hyper ho jati hai aur tough cheezein face karti hai. (Females get hyper easily and face tough situations.) Also, Payal and I are different people. I am very calm and quiet,” he says, adding that his family in Rohtak doesn’t even know about the show or the concept. “Now since I am entering the show at least they will watch it,” he adds. He says that people have already told him so many things about the show that he is afraid of being a part of it now. “But I will be what I am and my personality is such that whatever I tell, is loved by people, may be because I always tell the truth. I only want to give and receive love from the show,” he says.
