Singer Lucky Ali’s impromptu gig in Goa makes netizens raise questions about his fans, who were seen sitting close to each other without any social distancing
A video of Indipop singer Lucky Ali recently went viral, in which he can be seen performing his hit number, O Sanam, in front of a small crowd in Arambol, Goa. Shared by Twitter user and actor Nafisa Ali Sodhi, the video features a group of people sitting close to each other. While netizens seemed to be in awe of the singer giving an impromtu performance, soon, comments questioning the social distancing norms started to pour in. During his performance, which seems like a very intimate affair in the video, nobody in the crowd is seen wearing masks or following the distancing protocol, owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nafisa, who is currently residing in Goa, shared the video in which the singer is seen treating his fans with another soulful rendition of the song. She wrote, “Lucky Ali’s live and impromptu performance at Arambol. At the Garden of Dreams @officialluckyali #goa.” The 62-year-old singer is dressed in casuals as he plays the tunes on his guitar. When he pauses after singing, “nazron se ab na humko giraana”, the crowd completes by singing “toh bhool na jaana” in unison.
“Love... Please tell him I’m his biggest fan,” wrote a user, while another user shared, “O Lucky, how wonderfully you sang! Straight from the heart.” “So good to see him. I am a die-hard fan of Lucky sir. My childhood memories are filled with each and every song of his,” shared another user. One user wrote, “The crowd must have gone crazy and one is in awe of Lucky’s magical voice.”
One user commented, “Lucky Ali always such a delight to hear. But that latest video is scaring me. Not one person is wearing a mask, no social distancing. Is COVID over in Goa?” Another wrote, “So many people are retweeting the Lucky Ali video, no one is asking questions about not one person is wearing a mask. Is this from 2020 or an old video? Or did everyone in Goa already got the vaccine?”
Taking a dig at scene, a Twitter user retweeted with comment, “Goa is now post-COVID, it seems!”
“Lovely song, lovely setting and all, yes, but why no masks on anyone? This video is really pissing me off. Some of us haven’t met loved ones in months because there’s a pandemic on and we are too scared of what might happen if we are even the tiniest bit careless,” commented another user on Twitter.
The cases are still rising but the people in the video are too engrossed to care about the pandemic. “Lovely! But why none of the people in the audience are wearing masks and what about social distancing? Why are they sitting so close? Am I the only one left with this consciousness now?,” another user questioned.
Last month, a video of the singer crooning this hit and playing it on the guitar had gone viral. In the video, the singer stops at a line where there is a mention of the word ‘death’, drawing widespread emotional response from fans.
Well, this makes it evident how precautionary measures keeping in mind the COVID situation have taken to our consciousness and are being prioritised over a social gathering that looks less preferable now.
