Re-establish the Garden of Eden

Rajyogi Brahma Kumar Nikunji

There is an urgent need for a complete transformation of the present world where there is peace, happiness and love, says Rajyogi Brahmakumar Nikunj ji

When we reflect on life, we realise how time is inexorably running out, and our lives are being consumed. If we were to look at our city from a 20th-floor building, we would see thousands of lives similar to ours, rushing from one place to another like ants, mixing and shaping what we call a society. Throughout time, generations of people like us have been born and have died. It is unavoidable that we ask this question a few times in our fleeting life  — “what mankind has done is worthy of being called an evolution or an accomplishmentIJ” Our race has evolved from its primitive origin through the discovery of what mother nature has given to us on this little planet, to a more organised form of living and interacting together, which we can call a society.

However, despite all the development that we have achieved, one question that comes to mind, again and again, is that ‘Is the current world really any better than it had been for centuriesIJ’ And we all know the answer. Practically speaking, the world today has become a vicious jungle full of thorns, a place unsuitable for the good to survive.

Evil is thriving everywhere and can be said to be at its peak in several forms of vices like lust, anger, greed, attachment, ego and jealousy. Day by day it is becoming increasingly difficult for women to protect their honour. Narrow self-interest is leading to separatist tendencies and communal discord everywhere. Corruption is rampant. Attachment with people and property is causing mental injury and pain everywhere and stress has become the order of the day.

Jealousy is sowing seeds of hatred amongst people belonging to the same family and it is becoming hard for people in the same home, same state, and country to live in harmony with each other. It seems that in the present times people who have these vices are more successful than those who are on the virtuous path. Good people go unnoticed like the beauty and fragrance of the flowers in the forests. In short, in the present vicious world, goodness gets the least respect. It tries to bloom and then withers away soon because of adverse conditions.

It has become like an endless desert where there seems to be no respite. People are wandering in search of the oasis of peace, and when they cannot find it, they are duped by several mirages that seem to give them short-term happiness. Under such a scenario, those looking for goodness have only one ray of hope and that is ‘remembrance of God’. Yes, they hope that God would give them strength in such tough times and salvage the world of its suffering one day. The word God is the reminder of the role of the supreme creator who is the generator, operator and the destructor (of evil) in the world. His role is to transform hell into heaven. He changes the world from a vicious forest of thorns to the garden of heaven that blooms in an all-season spring.

There is an urgent need today for a complete transformation of the present world in order to establish a viceless world where there is peace, happiness and love. A garden unlike the forest, needs to be laid down carefully. So the creator creates small nurseries at different places on the globe for his sublime task of transforming people from thorns to flowers. Slowly they are joined by others to be a part of this beautification process and the nurseries begin to grow. When this chain of self-transformation spreads in the world which is otherwise teeming with vices, the atmosphere begins to change and at last the ugly evil is completely destroyed and goodness rules the world. So it is then, when the forest of thorns is completely annihilated and the garden of Eden is re-established on the face of earth.
