Glass fibre floor art, walk-in wardrobe, sued fabric paneling on the wall and all things cosy — decoding the luxury Italian trends for the year. Ankita Jain reports

The greasy gas stove, tiles, modular wooden shelves, cabinets and sinks are thrown out of a drab rasoi, as we enter a design studio. In comes a luxurious modern kitchen that sparkles with state-of-the-art accessories. Gone are the days when designer or modular kitchens were the preserve of a few wealthy families in the city. In an attempt to make it an experience centre for Italian style living in its studio, premium furniture brand Ottimo has tied up with a motley group of Italians. The list comprises EmilGroup, Operate Home, Tumidei and many more.

Apart from the kitchen, the studio is segmented into a kid’s room, master bedroom, rooms within room and living room.

luxury cooking culture

The modern kitchen is not just a place where your breakfast, lunch and dinner is prepared. These kitchens involve Italian professionals and specialists who design the kitchen according to your taste. luxurious surfaces with a glossy appearance, doors and drawers here open with a tap and a push, a garbage bin which just needs a gentle kick. There’s more to come. That little corner in your kitchen which has been wasted as you could never reach has been used intelligently. So are the inbuilt dishwasher, food warmers and refrigerator and a kitchen platform which can be modified according to your height.

For many families now, the drawing room is no longer the best decorated place in the house. A designer children’s bedroom is the new trend. It has a double box-bed with a storage and display unit for his collection of books, cars and bikes. The headboard is made of stimulated leather, sleek and with modern upholstery. On either side of the bed is a cupboard painted with his favourite cartoon characters.
