Fully aware of the immense opportunity for the domestic manufacturing industry, especially in solar energy, Solar Energy Society of India (SESI) organised a seminar on ‘latest Techniques in Stringing for Mass Manufacturing of Solar Modules’.
The guest speaker for the ocassion was Gregor Reddemenn, CEO, Freiburg, Germany.
He deliberated on current developments in technology which are used to manufacture modules at high speed stringing upto 5,000 cells per hour with as many as five bus bars. Reddemenn spoke at length to explain the new techniques.
India is gearing up to meet the greatest ever opportunities in renewable energy. The Government has targeted to achieve 100 GW of solar power by 2022 whereas the annual capacity of module is only two GW. With the domestic module contents in solar farms, it will take a long time to achieve the targets. The minimum need is to have 0 GW module in India and with such a huge target, we need to have mass scale manufacturing of solar modules. The RE sector has shown encouraging sign and is bullish about fulfilling the scaled up targets by the Government.
It was quite an educative and technology driven talk. All manufacturing units of solar modules, new prospective entrepreneurs learned the latest techniques to make upto 50 MW modules per year by one system.
SESI is the Indian chapter of the International Solar Energy Society (ISES), a UN-accredited NGO. It was set up to mobilise the solar energy revolution in the country. Established in the year 976, the NGO has its secretariat in New Delhi. SESI is holding its International Congress — Make in India — Opportunities and challenges in solar sector in January next year.
